Day 1: Take-off towards Africa
Today your journey begins, with the departure of your long distant flight to South Africa.

Day 2: Welcome in South Africa
Arrival in Johannesburg at OR Tambo International Airport in the morning. You will be welcomed by your friendly local guide. Together we will embark on an approximately 5 hour journey to the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa, to our wonderful Lodge in a Game Reserve at the edge of the world-renowned Kruger National Park. After check-in you have the afternoon to relax. After enjoying the view of the African savannah with a sundowner in hand you are invited to your Welcome Dinner at the restaurant of the lodge. Tonight, you will fast fall asleep surrounded by the remarkable sounds of the African bush. 480 km/ D

Day 3: Kruger National Park and Balule Private Game Reserve
After breakfast, we will travel in a northerly direction through the Kruger National Park using this journey as a safari to our next lodge and discover the African wildlife. On this wide-ranging and extensive game drive in our touring vehicle, with a little luck, we will be able to discover South Africa’s Big Five: Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Lion and Leopard. In the afternoon we will leave the Park and arrive at our next destination, the beautiful Balule Private Game Reserve, our accommodation for the next two nights. The lodge is perfectly situated with marvellous views and is a paradise for all African bush-lovers, surrounded by fever trees and ever green date palms. We will enjoy dinner at the loges’ restaurant. 297 km/ B,D

Day 4: A day at Balule Private Game Reserve
Today we will spend the day in the wonderful surroundings of the Balule Nature Reserve, which forms part of the greater Kruger National Park area. The Olifant River flows all year long through the Balule Nature Reserve and is home to many hippos and crocodiles. We will explore this unique landscape on two extensive game drivers, one if the morning and one in the afternoon, on off-road vehicles owned by the lodge. 0 km/ B,L,D

Day 5: The breathtaking Panorama Route
We are leaving the area of the Kruger National Park and travel along the Panorama Route, one of South Africa's most scenic drives. Here we will view the worlds 3rd largest canyon, the mighty Blyde River Canyon, peak through God’s Window and visit the fascinating Bourke's Luck Potholes. In the afternoon, after admiring these breath-taking natural highlights, we will arrive at our comfortable and centrally located hotel in Graskop where we will spend the night. 270 km/ B,D

Day 6: Back to Johannesburg and flight to the Garden Route
After breakfast, we will head in a westerly direction, back to the highveld on which Johannesburg lies. At about midway a delicious home cooked lunch awaits us on a very remarkable and outstanding farm. In the early evening, we will arrive back at Johannesburg Airport and fly together to Port Elizabeth on the Garden Route. On arrival, we have a short transfer to our accommodation for tonight, a luxurious hotel directly on the beach front of the warm Indian Ocean. 395 km/ B, L

Day 7: The last indigenous forest of the Garden Route
In the morning, we will leave and drive along the coast line of the world-famous Garden Route. Our destination for today is the Stormsriver mouth which lies in the Tsitsikamma National Park, one of the oldest National Parks in South Africa. The conservation of the park expands out to ocean and includes a maritime protection zone. Some say the mystical atmosphere of this dense forest inspired the South African author JRR Tolkien to write his masterpiece Lord of the Rings. Here we will embark on an easy walk along the wooded coastline surrounded by 1000s of years old Yellowwood trees and cross the unique suspension bridge where the Storm River flows into the Indian Ocean, a remarkable sight. Tonight we are guests in a charming hotel at the edge of the Park. 182 km/ B,D

Day 8: All about Portuguese sailors and the “Bahia Famosa”
This morning after breakfast we will visit the Robberg Marine and Nature Reserve, just outside the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay. An easy and very rewarding hike will take us along high cliffs and a seemingly never ending horizons.The hike can be shortened and adapted to suit individual choices. We will be surrounded by diverse indigenous Fynbos vegetation. The Portuguese called this Place “Bahia Famosa”, inspired by the unforgettable beautiful view of the bay. You might see some seals and, if lucky, even dolphins and wales. Our destination for the day is the scenically situated coastal town of Knyna, famous for its magnificent lagoon. After an inspiring and uplifting visit to the township at the edge of Knysna we will sleep at a comfortable and centrally located hotel. 104 km/ B, D 

Day 9: Of the Feather Barons and millions of years old stalagmites
Today we will say good-bye to the Indian Ocean, and travel to the so-called Klein Karoo, to visit Outshoorn, the ostrich capital of South Africa. To get there our route will take us over the 800m high Outeniqua pass. In Oudtshoorn, the home of the once wealthy “Ostrichfeather-Barons” we will visit a typical ostrich farm, and learn more about the economic importance, lives and history of these local birds. Later on we will visit one of the 7 Wonders of South Africa, the world-famous Cango Caves. A wonderful and welcoming guest farm at the foot of the Swartberg will provide our comfortable overnight accommodation. 117 Km/ B, D 

Day 10: The Route 62 all the way to the world-famous Cape Winelands
Our journey today will take us along the famous Route 62, past the picturesque Klein Karoo towns of Calitzdorp and Ladysmith, the latter well known for its locally produced cheese. The journey continues over the lovely Huisriver Pass down to the artistic town of Barrydale. Slowly but surely we are getting closer to the Cape Wineregion. In the early evening, after having travelled over the spectacular Du Toits Kloof Pass, from where you can see Table Mountain on a clear day, we arrive in Paarl. Our accommodation for the following two nights will be on a very beautiful and producing wine farm, found at the foot of the impressive granite boulders known as Paarl Rock. 367 km/ B, D

Day 11: From the African Penguins to the Huguenots and the first wine farmers
This morning starts with a spectacular scenic coastal drive along the False Bay. We will arrive in the coastal town of Bettys Bay where we visit Pikkewyntjies, a pre-primary school, proudly supported by African Kombi Tours . After visiting and getting to know the incredible teachers and the happy children we will visit the close by African Penguin colony. A large amount of African Penguins are found breeding and living here in a small Nature Reserve. We continue over the impressive Franschhoek Pass to the town of Franschhoek, an old Huguenots settlement. Continuing along this unique tour of the Winelands, we will experience a guided cellar tour where we will learn more about cultivation and production of the world renowned South African wine. Of course we will have the chance to taste some too! In the afternoon we will also visit the beautiful university town of Stellenbosch, before returning to our wine farm in the early evening. 324 km/ B, D

Day 12: From Apartheid to he Rainbow Nation
Today we will arrive in South Africa's “Mother City”, Cape Town. As a historical highlight we will go across by boat to Robben Island, the former prison island just off Cape Town. Here you will experience a fascinating tour f the island and visit, amongst other interesting places, the prison cell of former president and Nobel Peace Price winner Nelson Mandela. In the afternoon, back in Cape Town, we will reach your ideally situated and very comfortable hotel in the famous Cape Town Waterfront. Here you will be accommodated for the next 3 nights. 132 km/ B, D

Day 13: The highlights of the Cape Town Metropol
On our driving and walking tour of Cape Towns Metropol, we will walk through the stunning Company Gardens, visit an African flee-market, marvel at the Parliament Building, the City Hall, and the old Castle of Good Hope amongst many other sites. In the afternoon a short drive out to Blouberg Beach will afford us an amazing photo opportunity of Table Mountain across the stunning Table Bay. The colourful and historical urban district of Bo-Kaap will later also entice us to take more pictures and brings us closer to the history of the slaves and today´s Cape Coloured Community. 60 km/ B, D

Day 14: From the Cape of Good Hope to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden
Today we will discover the entire Cape Peninsula with all its fascinating highlights. Our drive over Chapmans Peak, no doubt the most spectacular pass in the Western Cape (possible closed on accounts of bad weather condition), through the idyllic coastal town Noordhoek, will arrive at the most south-westerly tip of Africa, the world-famous Cape of Good Hope. Our journey will continue in the early afternoon along the False Bay, past the South African Navy Base at Simons Town. Just outside Cape Town we will further discover the breathtaking Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, a World Heritage Site on more then 500ha ground. The spectacular gardens will give you a great insight of the rich and incredibly diverse local vegetation. A delicious farewell dinner-experience will let us reflect on this amazing journey through South Africa. 116 km/ B, D

Day 15: Farewell on top of Table Mountain
This morning holds the possibility of yet another unforgettable highlight, an optional tour to the top of the 1.085m high Table Mountain. From here you can enjoy spectacular views of Cape Town and the dark blue Atlantic Ocean (it is extremely weather dependent, therefore an optional tour and payable on site at the till). We will then drive together to Cape Town International Airport and say our good-byes to South Africa.
